Resistance Loading is a phrase coined by Johnny G, the inventor of Spinning. It’s a drill where the rider adds extra resistance on the bike, but maintains the same cadence. Since the revolutions-per-minute (RPMs) are staying the same, but the amount of resistance builts, the heart rate rises (In other words, it gets progressively harder.) You can expect higher and higher cardiac output. Your heart rate multiplied by the amount of blood it pumps per systole equals your cardiac output. (Track your cardiac output. It is indicative of improved heart fitness.) Resistance Loading strengthens the legs, buns, heart and lungs. It is also highly metabolic. Push your limits and achieve a higher level of human performance by regular commitment to this type of high intensity, low impact training.
